We are super excited and we invite  you to share the joy with us! Tatiana, the owner of California Lavender Honey Farm, has written a children’s book (“Book”) and we would like to welcome all children to illustrate it! 

 

Most often kids get to read books illustrated by adults and let’s face it, adults see the world a little differently. We want kids all over the world to see our wonderful story through the eyes of their peers. And wouldn’t it be fun too?!

So here is the story. It is a Christmas story that takes place on a farm. In the Book there are elves and reindeer, Santa and Mrs. Clause, and a boy and his animal “crew” who lives on a farm. And they all strive to help solve a big problem Santa is facing just a couple of days before Christmas.

Here is the FRAMEWORK of the Art Contest:

1. There are 2 sub-contests: one for the cover and the contest for the illustrations within the Book. Each child can enter either one or both sub-contests (if they are within the appropriate age groups described below). The pool of prizes is separate for the two sub-contests.

2. For the Cover contest everybody will get the general storyline of the Book and the title and the author’s name that they need to incorporate into the drawing. Age limit for entrants: 10-17 years.

3. For the Illustrations contest, there is no bottom age limit (the last time we held a contest like this one of the winners was 3 ½ years old!) but the top limit is still 17 years. Each child will be given 1 topic to illustrate (a small excerpt from the book) out of about 15. We will group kids by age groups: 6 and under, 7-9, 10-13 and 13-17.
 

4. The illustrations must be in color but any drawing materials can be used: pencils, paints, etc.

The PRIZES:

1. There will be 1 winner for the Cover who will receive $100 Amazon gift card and a copy of the Book once it is published.

2. There will be 15 or so finalists for illustrations (depending on the final number of the illustrations needed for the book), 1 for each illustration, each of them will receive the Book as a finalist’s prize, once it is published. 3 winners will be chosen out of the finalists to win the following top prizes: $80 Amazon gift card for the 1st spot, $50 Amazon gift card for the 2nd and $30 Amazon gift card for the 3d.

3. The names of all winners and finalists will be published in the Book.

The RULES of the contest:

1. The entry is FREE.

2. Only children of the above referenced age groups can participate in the Contest.

3. No AI generated images, all images need to be hand drawn.

4. All images must be submitted via email in high resolution in the following formats: .jpg or .pdf You will receive a confirmation from us if your image is accepted to the Contest.

5. All entries need to be submitted by the legal guardians of the children who have the right to agree to these terms and conditions on behalf of their children.

6. By submitting an image to our Art Contest, you assign copyright to the said image to California Lavender Honey Farm and its owners. You agree that you will not be entitled to any compensation from California Lavender Honey Farm or its owners for the use of the submitted image beyond the above mentioned prizes, and only if your image wins one.

7. By submitting the image to the Contest you do not gain any rights to the Book.

8. Art Contest judging is subjective in essence. Often, we like a piece of art more than any other just because it “speaks” to us, regardless of finesse or technique. By submitting the artwork to the Contest you agree to not dispute the results of the Contest at any time.

9. By submitting the image to the Contest you grant California Lavender Honey Farm and its owners the right to publish your child’s name, the first initial of the last name, age and city of residence in the book and in online publications related to the Book.

Here are the NEXT STEPS:

1. Submit request to participate in the Contest via email to mycaliforniafarm@gmail.com

2. In the email please, indicate which sub-contest your child would like to participate in (or both), and also indicate your child’s age.

3. Wait for our response. Since we will be grouping kids by age group it may take a little bit of time.

4. Our response to you via email will have further instructions. You will have 30 days to submit the drawing from the day you receive our response.

5. The requests to participate in the Contest will be accepted until September 20, 2024 , so hurry!

6. You must submit the entry to the Contest no later than 30 days after you receive the instructions from us in the email.
